How does it ensure this? - Through its world-class technology centre near Lyons, France. The first research centre of its kind in the world, it houses cross-disciplinary research teams composed of scientists of 8 different nationalities, major construction and civil engineering sector players and academics from universities and research institutes who are involved in forward thinking and prediction of new construction trends, with a research budget that has grown by 50% over the last three years.
- An international network of 25 specialist research laboratories.
- The Place des Métiers: a series of Internet sites targeting all building industry players: Creargos.com, Batissor.com, Matixel.com
A commitment that has borne fruit 237 recent patents filed:
- Ductal, an ultra high performance building material that has been jointly developed by Lafarge, Bouygues and Rhodia.
- Agilia: a fluid, self-levelling concrete with two applications, Agilia Sols for floors and Agilia Vertical for walls and columns, which is already available on the North American, British and Austrian markets.
-"BIG”, a large-format roof tile (25% bigger than conventional size) which brings down roof-laying times for very large roof areas.
- New insulating systems for partitioning that combine fire-resistance and noise-deadening qualities. |
